Fan rods made of rosewood
Rosewood is a very dense and fragrant wood native to South America. It is highly resistant to moisture and all kinds of insects. In fact, it was once one of the preferred species for making boat propellers.
It's known as palo santo because it's used in ceremonies and rituals. Not only as incense, but it's also believed to have amulet properties.
It is an endangered species, and its production and marketing are therefore controlled.
Characteristics of rosewood
Color: It has shades of brown, black, and even olive green. The color darkens with time and exposure to light.
Straight or slightly intertwined grain.
Fine grain.
This is a particularly dense wood, with a density of around 1280 kg/m3.
Durable against fungal and insect attack. It is also durable in contact with the ground.
Due to its density, it's considered difficult to work with. It produces a lot of resin, making it unsuitable for gluing. On the other hand, it performs very well when turned.
It emanates an intense and pleasant fragrance. Direct contact with skin may cause allergic reactions.
Except in areas where it grows, the price of rosewood is high, as it is considered an exotic wood. Scarcity also affects this high price.
