Properties of pineapple fiber
Pineapple fiber is soft, has a high luster, and is usually white or ivory in color. The final fabric is lightweight, easy to care for, and has an elegant appearance similar to linen. Pineapple fibers are ivory white and naturally lustrous. This delicate and dreamy fabric is translucent, smooth, and fine with a high luster. Pineapple fabric is soft, durable, and moisture-resistant. It is also used to make thick fabrics and for mats, bags, and clothing.
Because pineapple leaf fiber fabric is lightweight yet stiff, this sheer fabric can be used in any creative design. These fabrics, in addition to being environmentally friendly, have many other qualities:
They have a beautiful, elegant appearance with a natural, clothing-like shine.
They are light
They mix very efficiently with other fibers.
They are very soft, even softer than hemp.
They have a better texture than silk.
They can be washed and do not need to be dry cleaned.
Because the pineapple fabric manufacturing process is tedious, slow, and laborious, it can be expensive. However, when worn, one can experience the luxury of this exotic fabric.
Piña fiber is also blended with cotton, abaca, and silk to create wonderfully light and cool fabrics. When woven with silk, it is called piña silk. Piña jusi is blended with jusi (abaca or silk) to give it strength and sheerness and is less expensive than fabric made with 100% piña fiber.
